SOWETO Food Market is an event that pops up once every season.

Founder Sidwell Tshingilane said that the market will be something for everyone.

The pop up market kicks off at Uncle Tom’s Hall in Orlando West on 3 March.

People can expect to be mesmerised by food stalls that will sell chicken kebabs, chicken wraps, kotas, spicy wings, ice cream, mocktails and more.

“Come and experience the smell and taste of kasi cuisine.

He said the food market was created for Sowetans who love original kasi food.

Tshingilane said the food market will pop back every three months. In future it will not only offer local food but also South African wines and even a juice company.

“We also hope to include local farmers at the market so that visitors can buy direct from farmers.”

There will be a jumping castle and face painting for kids.

Venue: Uncle Tom’s Hall

Date: 3 March

Time: 12pm to 8pm

Tickets: R50 for adults or R20 for children between two and 12 years old
