SOWETO’s biggest cake festival returns next month!
Organiser Sidwell Tshingilane said they have learnt a lot from their first cake exhibition in 2016 and plan to make the new expo even bigger and better.
Soweto Cake Festival Expo
The Soweto Cake Festival Expo returns to the Soweto Theatre in Jabulani.
“We have many new activities lined up for everyone including a baking competition featuring professional pastry chefs who will judge the baking contestants.”
Tshingilane said the cake festival is a premier industry lifestyle event in Gauteng and it offers a unique opportunity for industry experts, home-based traders and hobbyists to open up their skills and also network with industry insiders under one roof. The expo will be full of interesting ideas and stalls regardless of whether visitors seek hospitality, wedding business, catering or cakes and/or desert designs.
Organisers aim to enrich visitors with education about the industry and wide range of opportunities that will interest everyone who attends.
What to expect
The festival’s vision is to grow and promote bakers in the township. There will be cake stands that visitors can sample for free with an option to buy slices.
“We’re also planning to have kids, and adults, baking workshops. Visitors should expect beautiful cake baking demonstrations and auctions at the end of the show. There’ll also be live performances.
General tickets cost R60 for adults and R30 for kids between two and 12 years.
Tickets are sold at Pick n Pay at Maponya Mall, Soweto Theatre and online at www.webtickets.co.za
