TODAY is . . . WORLD MEATBALL DAY!
Meatballs have appeared in many times and places according to records of our planet’s culinary history.
This popular meal item is made by taking ground or minced meat, mixed with spices, breadcrumbs, eggs and other ingredients, rolling it in a ball and cooking it. In Turkey, it is a whole food group called kofte. Chinese history notes it as far back as 221 BCE! Surviving cookbooks written by ancient Romans present many meatballs recipes for all the different types of meat they used.
Cooking methods include frying, braising, or baking. And while there’s no wrong way to making a meatball, remember to make enough so all your friends and family can eat some.
