M-Net’s Magic in Motion Academy has once again successfully upskilled 13 film and television graduates, to help them kick start their professional careers.

The event marked the fourth such milestone for the Academy, which was launched in 2014 and has consistently delivered on its principal aim to ensure transformation in Mzansi’s video entertainment industry.

Speakers at the event included newly appointed acting M-Net CEO Nkateko Mabaso.

Mabaso said M-Net’s Magic in Motion corporate social investment is among the company’s most critical focuses, given its long-term objective.

“The themes of creativity, vision, art and entrepreneurship are central to the DNA of our business.”

The Class of 2017 were encouraged to pursue their storytelling ambitions with clear and dedicated purpose understanding that it is their ability to write, direct, film and edit great content that is their most vital asset. It contributes to SA’s fast growing local content pipeline.

This year’s Academy graduates have already produced four titles: Umhlanga, Romeo and Romeo, Two Funerals One Dead Man and Matric, which were broadcast on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161).
