UNDER pressure Kaizer Chiefs coach, Stuart Baxter, admitted he is feeling the heat following a slow start to the DStv Premiership season.

He’s been heavily criticised by the Amakhosi faithful who are desperate for happy days to return to the club after a miserable couple of seasons.

Even club manager, Bobby Motaung, on Wednesday pleaded with Chiefs supporters to learn to practise patience.

Chiefs have been struggling for the past six seasons.

Ironically, Chiefs’ last piece of silverware – the league title back in the 2014-15 season – was delivered by the 68-year-old in what was his successful first spell.

But things have not gone well so far for the 68-year-old in his second spell, as his side find themselves in the bottom half of the standings after six matches. Amakhosi have only won once, lost twice and drawn as many matches – leaving them in 12th position after half a dozen matches.

But Baxter has also shared Motaung’s plea for patience.

“I think every coach’s job is under pressure,” said Baxter.

“That’s the nature of the job. The real pressure comes when the club you’re working for doesn’t see the culture you’re trying to promote.

“That’s the real pressure. Social media and what people think changes so quickly these days. We have played six games and already I’m being asked if my job is under pressure. I’m the only coach who has won anything over the last 18 years at this club, and after six games my job is under pressure.

“You question the fairness of that because there is that Tsunami nowadays on social media. Sometimes we (as coaches) make good decisions and then other times we make bad ones. But we have to believe that in the real football world, not social media, you have more time and patience.”

“It will be business as usual, he’ll be looking to win and so will we. I don’t think there will be any grudges, we’ll shake hands afterwards and remain friends.”
