WITH South Africa kicking off their Olympic Games on Thursday against hosts Japan, we throw it back to 2016 when Abubakker Mobara managed to silence Brazil superstar Neymar in Rio.

SA was playing their second Olympics at that time, and they were facing Brazil for the second time in the group stages of the tournament.

Brazil had all their stars, including Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar.Mobara emerged as one of the outstanding players on the day when he kept Neymar in his pockets for 90 minutes in a match that ended in a goalless draw.

Neymar and Mobara naturally faced each other in 1v1 duels, and the South African defender came out on top every time.

Mobara’s performance set tongues wagging after the game as he frustrated the Brazilians, which has many top defenders in the world sleepless nights, leaving them on the floor all the time.
