SEKHUKHUNE United’s buying spree has not stopped!
The club have signed former SuperSport United striker Evans Rusike, according to SunSport’s source. This will take the club’s new signings to nine ahead of their debut in the DStv Premiership.
Sekhukhune have so far signed Ryan De Jong, Nicholus Lukhubeni, Thabo Rakhale, Vusumuzi Mncube, Tshediso Patjie, Tumelo Matona, Kamohelo Sithole and Seun Ledwaba.
According to our insider, the club are assessing former Mamelodi Sundowns left back Siyabonga Zulu, ex-Black Leopards and Chippa United defender Tebogo Mokobela, and other former Chippa players Gerald Modisane and Gregory Damons.
Sekhukhune are heading to Mpumalanga for a pre-season two-week camp before they get their new Premiership season underway. Meanwhile, the future of two veterans – Morgan Gould and Jabu Maluleke – is up in the air.
According to SunSport sources, the two players have been informed that they won’t be playing for the club next season and they are currently not training with the team.
While the club recently appointed ex-SA Under-20 coach Thabo Senong to work with head coach McDonald Makhubedu, Makhubedu’s assistant last season, Stan Nkoane’s future, is up for discussion.
According to SunSport sources, Nkoane was seen in the stands with Johnny Ferreira, who is the coach of the new boys Venda Football Academy who bought the status of Championship side Cape Umoya United.
Ferreira and Nkoane were the first coaches to be appointed by Sekhukhune at the beginning of last season in the Championship after the club management bought the Championship status of TTM. But Ferreira was sacked by the club and they appointed Makhubedu.
