Two Oceans Marathon
Organizers of the 2019 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon have confirmed that a 35 year-old male runner from Cape Town collapsed and died during the race this morning.
Attempts by paramedics to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
The deceased runner was participating in his fourth half marathon and was an avid runner.
“As organizers of the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon (OMTOM) we wish to extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased," reads a statement from the organisers.
"We respect the family’s wishes to grieve the loss of their loved one in private and request that the media do the same."
