AMAZULU have yet again shot themselves in the foot as they got yet another unnecessary DStv Premiership goalless draw against Royal AM at the rainy-soaked Moses Mabhida Stadium venue on Saturday.

Usuthu should have won the game easily but Thembela Sikhakhane was the culprit of them all, missing a goal in front of him after beating Royal goalkeeper Patrcik Nyame late in the game.

Though Usuthu coach Benni McCarthy, as always cut a forlorn figure in the dugout, to be fair, Nyame was outstanding for Royal AM, as he denied Andre De Jong, Luvuyo Memela before Sikhakhane's miss.

This is a fourth draw in the row for Usurthu and their ninth this season which is more than any other side.

McCarthy compared his side when they got a draw against Kaizer Chiefs late last month like Swallows of last season, who recorded 20 last term, a record in the PSL.

While Usuthu came into this fixture looking to get back to winning ways, however they were facing a Royal AM, who because of this draw moved second on the log table with 22 points after 13 games, proving to be a difficult side to break down.

In what was the first ever meeting between AmaZulu and Royal AM, Usuthu dominated proceedings early but could not make it count.

Royal absorbed the pressure, trying to catch AmaZulu on the counter attack. Usuthu suffered an early blow as Xola Mlmabo picked up a knee injury and was replaced by Siyethemba Sithebe in the 31st minute.

Injuries were expected to occur as the rain was bucketing down the whole day in Durban. Both sides were expected to struggle with cramps as it was soft under foot.

But Royal, with little chances they had, were dangerous with the front three of Levy Mashiane, Tebogo Potsane and Victor Lestsoalo.

It was Potsane, who scored the winner in the last match against Stellies, whose trickery almost caused havoc but was brought down outside the box but the free kick by Lantshene Phalane hit Usuthu wall.

But Sikhakhane summed up the frustration of the day for Usuthu. He pushed forward in a quick give and go and the former Golden Arrows defender rounded Nyame, but with the goal gaping in front of him, he fluffed it.
