THABO Qalinge has agreed terms with AmaZulu.

AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu confirmed that Qalinge, who has been training with the club, would soon belong to them as they're currently waiting for the PSL to ratify the permanent move.

Qalinge has been club-less after leaving SuperSport United in March last year, which saw him train with Usuthu since then.

It is believed that coach Benni McCarthy seems impressed.

The former Mpumalanga Black Aces winger was part of the Usuthu side that went to visit Royal House of the late Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini Ka BhekuZulu few days ago, whose parents were founding members of the club in 1932.

The 29-year-old has his work cut out to fit in into the team that is doing well under McCarthy.

The Durban-based side have won their last four league matches for the first time since 2009, occupying fifth spot with 34 points from 20 games. Zungu also confirmed that Mario Booysen has been deemed surplus to requirements in the side.

The 32-year-old’s contract is expiring in June anyway.

Since coach McCarthy was appointed, Booysen has only played once against SuperSport in January. It was bad for him on that day as he scored an own goal after Usuthu had scored first, leaving McCarthy incensed afterwards.

“Mario Booysen is definitely not in the plans of coach Benni,” said Zungu.

“What I cannot answer is whether he’s still in our books or not, but we agreed with him that he’s not in the plans of the coach.”
