PITSO Mosimane’s contract renewal with Al Ahly will be known this week, the club said in a statement.

Mosimane joined Ahly from Mamelodi Sundowns in October last year on a two-year deal, which expires in June next year.

The African Club of Century are top of the Egyptian Premier League with 18 points after six matches, followed by Pyramids, who have a game in hand, on 13 points.

“The club want Mosimane to continue leading the team,” Ahly marketing and transfers director Amir Tawfik.

“A longer contract (will) increase the team’s stability. There will be a meeting between club president Mahmoud El-Khatib and Mosimane to discuss the new contract at a later date.”

According to reports in Egypt, the contract was due to be concluded on Tuesday, but somewhat delayed to later in the week.

Mosimane has been in charge of 72 matches for the club, but there's mixed feelings about him in the north of the continent.

He has won 52 matches, lost five and drew 15.

As the league in Egypt is in recess due to the Fifa Arab Cup in the Middle East, Mosimane’s team will be back in action against Future on 26 December.
