PHATHUTSHEDZO Nange confirmed that he will be joining Kaizer Chiefs next season.

The 29-year-old midfielder spent last season with Steve Barker’s Stellenbosch FC.

The former Bidvest Wits player was supposed to have joined the Soweto giants last season under then-coach Gavin Hunt.

His move however, failed as Chiefs were still banned by Fifa from signing players for two transfer windows.

This after they were found guilty of unlawfully acquiring the services of Madagascar international Arohasina “Dax” Andrianamimanana from his country side Fosa Juniors two seasons ago.

Now that the ban has ended, Chiefs has been on a shopping spree to beef their ageing squad.

Other former Wits players who had pre-season training with Chiefs, hoping to sign with them are Sifiso Hlanti and Brandon Peterson.

With Hunt having been sacked at Chiefs, many have been wondering if the Venda-born star will still join Chiefs under new coach Stuart Baxter.

Nange worked with Hunt at Wits and the former SuperSport United coach wanted to work with him at Chiefs.

He told SunSport that he will be heading to Naturena next season despite changes in the coaching personnel.

“I am not going back to Stellenbosch,” said the former Black Leopards star.

“I signed for a season with Stellenbosch. I will be joining Chiefs next season. My move to Stellenbosch was like a loan as I have been waiting to join Chiefs next season.

“I had a good time at Stellenbosch and I am thankful to the management, technical staff and the players. I can’t wait to join Chiefs.”

Nange played 23 matches and scored four goals while at the Cape Winelands outfit.
