MARUMO Gallants assistant coach Mpho Maleka admitted that they would need to improve on few aspects to reach the next round of the Caf Confederations Cup.
On Friday, Gallants stunned Democratic Republic of Congo outfit AS Vita club 2-0 at Peter Mokaba Stadium in their first leg of Caf Confederation Cup preliminary round.
Celimpilo Ngema scored a brace which saw them emerging victorious on the day. However, their mistake was to consider in the game's dying minutes after Vita were reduced to 10 players.
Now Gallants will need to score away and not lose by more than two goals if they want to reach the next round of the competition.
Talking after the match, Maleka said he was happy with the performance, but…
Maleka stated: "The players followed the game-plan, and we can only realize where we need to improve, which led to us conceding the goal. We conceded a goal, and this is not for the first time, we played against Kaizer Chiefs in a domestic league, and we made the same mistake (when they were one man down, we could not capitalize on that) we need to improve.
He admitted that in DR Congo, for the second leg, they will not have it easy.
The two teams will now meet again in the second leg on Friday 22 October, at Pentecost Martyrs Stadium in Kinshasa, DRC.
"In DR Congo (away leg) will be difficult we need a solid plan going there in order to qualify for the next round of the tournament," he concluded.
Balaban Ba Ntwa reached this tournament stage after thrashing Equatoguinean side Futuro Kings 4-2 on aggregate in the first preliminary round while Vita had a bye.
