MAMELODI Sundowns forward Phakamani Mahlambi has hinted he is out for revenge against his former club Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League.

Sundowns will face the Africa’s most successful club in the quarterfinals of the competition after the draw was made in Cairo on Wednesday night.

Downs are set to take on the Club of the Century over the course of two legs in a CCL quarterfinal.

Downs will be at home in the first leg on the weekend of April 5-6 before travelling away to Cairo a week later for the return fixture.

Mahlambi who had a short stint with the Egyptian giants in 2017/18 however he struggled to make an impact and eventually came back to South Africa to join Sundowns.

The 21-year-old has had a relatively slow start to life back in Mzansi's top flight and has managed just four goals in all competitions.

Mahlambi who is currently in the SA Under-23 national team is yet to get off the mark in the Champions League for coach Pitso Mosimane’s charges.

Mahlambi told the reporters: "Yes, I look forward to that [playing in the knockout stages]. I think it's always about making your own mark.

"I was there [at Al Ahly] and I did not play, but hopefully I am going to play. I'm looking forward to it, I want to do well."
