Benni McCarthy has AGAIN won the Coach of Months of March and April.
Just like last time when the AmaZulu coach claimed the award in February where he was joined on that occasion by his player, Thapelo Xoki, who claimed the Goal of the Month in February, this time was joined by Veli Mothwa.
Mothwa has been rewarded with the DStv Premiership Player of the Month of the same period.
The former Chippa United captain kept six clean sheets in eight games during this period. This led to the 30-year-old getting the deserved call up to the national team in March during Bafana Bafana's Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.
Usuthu began the month of March with a 1-0 victory over SuperSport United and went on to further triumph in six more games before being held by defending champions and log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in those eight matches.
AmaZulu, who are second on the log table with 50 points after 27 matches - seven points behind Sundowns - scored an impressive 13 goals and conceded only twice.
This is the second award in successive months for McCarthy since he returned to the Premiership late last year and is the only second coach to be honoured this season, after Swallows FC coach Brandon Truter won it in October/November and December/January.
McCarthy and Mothwa were selected by a combination of votes from a panel of local football experts made up of commentators, presenters, online and print media and radio broadcasters.
Meanwhile, Samir Nurkovic got the nod from football supporters for the Premiership Goal of the Month award, also for March/April.
His brilliantly taken overhead kick goal in Kaizer Chiefs’ 1-0 victory during the Soweto Derby in March, saw him bag the award.
