Former Maritzburg assistant coach Mabhudi Khenyeza has returned to his former club Amazulu, this time as assistant coach.

Khenyeza will be part of coach Cavin Johnson’s technical team as a second assistant coach.

The 36-year-old retired from football early last month and took up an assistant coach role with Usuthu’s neighbours Maritzburg under now departed coach Muhsin Ertugral.

Ertugral’s resignation left Khenyeza in a difficult spot at United and he also left the club a few days later after Eric Tinkler’s arrival.

AmaZulu confirmed Khenyeza’s appointment on Monday morning and the former Kaizer Chiefs striker is relishing the opportunity to work under Johnson.

"I am happy to be back. I must thank the club's management for trusting me. I know that I will grow under coach Cavin and Alan. I enjoyed working with them as a player, now I am looking forward to learning from them as a coach.”
