VETERAN defender Morgan Gould is confident his future is secured at SuperSport United, despite getting little game time this season.
Gould (35) has completely lost his place under coach Kaitano Tembo.
The last time he was part of the side was on 20 January when he was only fit to be on the bench during the club’s 2-1 win against Bloemfontein Celtic at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Tembo has opted to go with Clayton Daniels, Bongani Khumalo and new Zambian young and towering defender Billy Mutale, who was signed during this January transfer window.
Gould has only made 10 league appearances with the return of one goal.
Missing the last five matches has cast doubt on the future of the former PSL Footballer of the Year at the club.
Gould has been doing lot of branching out behind the scenes.
He was at Sibaya Casino in Durban, KZN on Wednesday, as part of the ambassador of the Uefa Champions League trophy tour in Mzansi. that started in Joburg earlier this week.
Gould rubbed shoulders with Welsh football coach and former player, Ryan Giggs.
About his future, Gould said: “Listen, the future is very bright. I know I have a lot to contribute to the game. I also know I need to give back to the game because the game has given me life and hope. You mustn’t forget that I come from an underprivileged background.
“So, I’ll definitely be at the club next season, and even the season following that.
SuperSport is my home and my home is where my heart is at.”
Whatever the future holds, Gould is one of the most accomplished footballers in the PSL.
Between 2008 and 2010, he claimed three league titles with Matsantsantsa.
That prompted him to join Kaizer Chiefs in 2012. Unfortunately, his stay at Naturena was marred by injuries and sidelining.
The four-time Absa Premiership winner was dumped by Amakhosi in 2016 and returned to Supersport.
He revived his career in the 2016/17 season, winning the SuperSport’s Player of the Year Award when they won the Nedbank Cup and last season’s MTN8.
