AMAZULU are busy negotiating with striker Thamsanqa “Ganga-ganga” Gabuza with the hope of signing him during the January transfer window from SuperSport United.

Usuthu’s attack has been blunt as they scored a mere four goals in six DStv Premiership matches.

The KwaZulu Natal side seems to be a shadow of a side that finished second last season to secure a spot in the Caf Champions League.

According to an insider at Usuthu, Gabuza could be the solution for coach Benni McCarthy in a bid to improve their ninth position on the log table.

The club has won only one match putting pressure on McCarthy who was a prolific scorer during his professional career.

Gabuza has scored three goals in six matches so far for SuperSport United and is a goal behind last season’s top goal scorer Peter Shalulile of Mamelodi Sundowns and Victor Letsoalo of Royal AM.

The 34-year-old player’s played a vital role to help Bradley Grobler finish last season as SuperSport’s top goalscorer on 14 goals. He joined Matsatsantsa A Pitori in 2019 after a long spell with Soweto giants Orlando Pirates.

AmaZulu spokesman Brilliant Makhathini could not divulge whether Gabuza has agreed to join the KwaZulu Natal side or not.

Said Makhathini: “This is a matter between the president and the player.”

Makhathini revealed that the club will continue to strive for results with players they have assembled. Bongi Ntuli is the club’s top scorer on two goals.

“We will work with what is available and pursue the season to achieve our goal.”

Zungu was not available for comment at the time of going to print as his mobile phone rang unanswered.
