MARUMO Gallants are set to announce their new head coach to replace the fired Sebastien Migne before their Caf Confederation Cup second round, first leg against DR Congo giants AS Vita at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday (6pm).

Gallants assistant coaches Mpho Maleka and David Mathebula have been preparing the team for this crucial clash against the Black Dolphins.

But Bahlabane Ba Ntwa spokesman Rufus Matsena told SunSport they will have a new coach on the bench when they face the 1973 Caf Champions League winners, who were scheduled to arrive in South Africa yesterday.

“The negotiations are at an advanced stage, and we will announce a new coach on Thursday or Friday morning,” said Matsena.

“I am not going to reveal the name as we are still busy talking to him. All I can say is that people should wait for Thursday or Friday.”

Asked if the man they are talking to is a South African, Matsena said: “Let’s wait for the announcement. I don’t want to comment much as there are still some issues to be finalised.”

However, former Orlando Pirates and TS Galaxy coach Owen Da Gama is one of the coaches who have been linked to replace the French-born mentor.

The Nedbank Cup champions are also reported to be also talking to another former Galaxy coach Dan Malesela and Duncan Lechesa, as the duo have Caf’s A-Coaching licences, which is required to coach in the continental tournament.

Even relatively unknown Raymond Mdaka has been linked with the job as he has the required Caf coaching licence.
