Former Bafana midfielder shot in Alex

FORMER Bafana Bafana midfielder Maimane Alfred Phiri has been shot.

According to the mole, Phiri was shot at 4th avenue in Alex at his pub in his hand and the leg. 

Two people died on the scene, and Phiri was rushed to the hospital.

“He’s fine in hospital,” said the source.

“He got shot in the hand and the leg.” 

 The 47-year-old Phiri, who played in Turkey for various clubs between 1996 and 2002, was part of the Bafana Bafana squad that went to its first-ever World Cup finals in France in 1998. 

He scored two goals in 13 appearances for Bafana.
