CHIPPA United goalkeeper, Ayanda Mtshali believes his side have the ability to overcome Golden Arrows if they use the same fighting spirit displayed against Baroka when they beat them 1-0 at Peter Mokaba Stadium last month.
The two sides will battle it out in the DStv Premiership at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday (3.30pm).
The win over Baroka last time out saw the Chilli Boys end their nine game winless run. They have moved from the relegation zone to 13th on the log with 10 points after 11 games.
Mtshali said they need to fight from the first whistle to the last if they are to get maximum points against Abafana Bes’thende.
“Arrows are not an easy team to play. We will need to fight the way we did against Baroka because we know they’re a dangerous team,” said the 33-year-old.
The Eastern Cape-based outfit hasn’t been in action in the past two weeks. Mtshali said it has given them time to prepare for the game and allowed caretaker coach, Kurt Lentjies to introduce his philosophy.
“Training has been going very well and I feel like not being in action gives our coach time to do his thing,” he said.
The goalkeeper has kept three clean sheets in his last three games. He said a win over Abafana Bes’thende topped by a clean sheet will be good for the team.
“I don't go into a game looking at clean sheets I just go to a game to ensure that the team wins but winning the next game without conceding is going to be good for us,” he said.
He added: “Of course I'm happy about keeping clean sheets but as long as we get maximum points, I'm happy,” he said.
He said they will need to defend as a team to get maximum points. “An overall team performance gave us the result last time. We need to do that again,” he said.
