BAFANA Bafana coach Hugo Broos is expected to make changes when he names his squad next week to face Ethiopia home and away in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Bafana will visit Ethiopia on 6 October before hosting the Walias four days later in Mzansi.

Broos, who was appointed in May, helped Bafana to their best start to a World Cup qualifying campaign since the 2002 World Cup qualifying programme. SunSport has learnt Broos will name his squad next week.

Broos’ side drew 0-0 with Zimbabwe away on 3 September before stunning Ghana 1-0 last Monday at FNB Stadium. These results have seen both nations fire their coaches.

The former Cameroon coach who named a youthful squad to play Zimbabwe and Ghana and despite the good start he could bring back a number of players.

Players set to be recalled after missing out against both Zimbabwe and Ghana are the Belenenses FC duo in Portugal, Thibang Mpete and Siphephelo Sithole. These players were ruled out due to medical reasons.

However, Sithole is now fit, as he came off the bench for bottom side Belenenses as they drew with Vitoria Guimaraes this past weekend.

Also, two Mamelodi Sundowns midfielders, Themba Zwane and Rivaldo Coetzee are also expected to get a recall, as they have started the season well for their club which has moved to the top of the DStv Premiership standings.

But it seems Downs club captain Mosa Lebusa will again miss out due to an injury. He was ruled out of both qualifiers having suffered an injury in the MTN8 semifinal first leg against Golden Arrows.

Meanwhile, Safa CEO Tebogo Motlanthe confirmed that Broos is expected to be back in the country to name his squad next week. Broos left the country to return home to Belgium shortly after the win over Ghana matches to sort out his work permit.
