THE World football governing body Fifa have dismissed Safa’s appeal to have their 2022 World Cup Qualifier against Ghana replayed.
FIFA confirmed on Friday that the match will NOT be replayed.
This decision means the 1-0 result which Ghana recorded at Cape Coast Stadium last month against Bafana Bafana in a World Cup qualifier will stand and Ghana will proceed to the final playoff round.
Bafana needed a draw to qualify for the play-offs but lost with the Black Stars being awarded a penalty, which has split opinions.
Safa had lodged an official complaint after some questionable refereeing decisions by Senegalese official Maguette Ndiaye last month.
Fifa acknowledged that they had received the complaint and were looking into the matter and now it is has been confirmed.
Safa also released a statement on Friday saying they will consider their options on this matter going forward.
"The South African Football Association (SAFA) will consider its options after the world football governing body (FIFA) dismissed its protest following Bafana Bafana’s controversial 1-0 loss to the Black Stars of Ghana last month," the statement reads.
SAFA CEO, Advocate Tebogo Monthlante said once SAFA gets reasons for the outcome, will sit down and weigh its options.
Monthlante stated: "We have received the decision without details and we will request FIFA for the reasons and consider our options.”
Ghanasoccernet.com quoted a Fifa statement which said: “The protest lodged by South Africa has been declared inadmissible by the Disciplinary Committee as it did not meet the requirements foreseen under art. 46 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code and art. 14 of the Regulations of the Preliminary Competition of the FIFA World Cup 2022."
