LACK of fight opportunities has forced South African bantamweight champion Ronald “King” Malindi to dump his promoter Tshele Kometsi of TK Promotions.
He is a second fighter to leave Kometsi high and dry in a period of a month.
Malindi is hot on the heels of yet another national title holder Innocent “Tycoon” Mantengu.
The KwaZulu-Natal born featherweight champion joined cross-town rival Team Dida Promotions.
The former taxi driver has joined forces with the award-winning East London outfit Ramble Africa Promotions last week with a hope of taking his boxing career to the next level.
The unbeaten fighter, who won two titles African Boxing Union (SADC) and national bantamweight belts under Kometsi’s promotions, said he appreciates everything the promoter has done for him.
“I’m grateful for what TK has done for me. I really appreciate everything he has done for me. The lack of action influenced my decision to join Rumble Africa,” he said.
The 26 year-old boxing sensation last seen the action three months ago when he outpointed Cleutus Mbhele on their grudgeto retain South Africa bantamweight belt.
According to Malindi, he hasn’t heard anything from his former promoter about the next fight.
“Boxing is the only source of income for me, so if I don’t fight that means I’m unable to take care of my family. I have stopped driving taxi to concentrate on boxing,” Malindi concluded.
