GOLDEN Arrows moved into the top eight in the DStv Premiership after a hardfought 2-1 victory over Chippa United on Saturday afternoon.
Michael Boy Gumede opened the scoring for Arrows but Bienvenu Eva Nga’s goal canceled out the away side’s lead.
Pule Sydney Mmodi scored the winner within seven minutes into the second half but it was Gumede’s outstanding performance in goal that won the away team points in the end.
The hosts had the opportunity to draw level in the game but Ngele squandered his chance when Nkosingiphile Gumede guessed the right way to save a penalty which was awarded a minute before stoppage time.
The away side had to play the last few minutes of injury time with ten men following Nkosinathi Sibisi's injury.
Abafana Bes’thende’s victory moved them to eight on the log with 18 points after 13 games. They have now won four games this season.
The Chilli Boys were looking to extend their winning run to two following last month's 1 - 0 victory over Baroka FC at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The Chilli Boys remain 13 on the log with ten points after 12 games.
Abafana Bes’thende will host Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday at Princess Magogo Stadium (7:30 PM).
It remains to be seen if Amakhosi is going to be able to play following a Covid-19 outbreak at their camp.
