CHIPPA United have beefed up their squad for the new Premier Soccer League campaign.
The Chilli Boys have bagged three players from the National First Division (NFD), according to the players’ agent Tim Sukazi.
Sukazi confirmed yesterday that South African Under-23 winger Paseka Mako, attacking midfielder Sizwe Mdlinzo, both from Cape Town All Stars, and goalkeeper Zama Dlamini from Witbank Spurs are all in the Chilli Boys’ squad for the new 2016-17 season. Sukazi called Mako a rising star in the SA U-23 squad, while Mdlinzo is an exciting attacking midfielder and Dlamini was captain of Spurs.
“There is a lot of talent in the NFD and Chippa have managed to sign three really top class players,” he said.
They join strikers David Zulu and Bongani Ndulula, who were recently signed to Chippa from Kaizer Chiefs.
Sukazi also disclosed that former Chiefs development player Lebohang Maboe joins MaritzburgUnited from another NFD outfit, Mbombela United, who lost out to Highlands Park in the recent PSL promotion play-offs.
Said Sukazi: “Maboe is a winger with bags of potential.”
The player agent is confident Maboe will be an asset to head coach Ernst Middendorp’s Maritzburg squad this season.
Sukazi also revealed that 24-year-old midfielder Mpho Mbebe has extended his contract with SuperSport United.
- Meanwhile, Maritzburg had a clean-out yesterday and off-loaded a number of players ahead of the new season.
They are Mohammed Anas (transfer listed), Tawfeeq Salie, Khumbulani Banda, David Booysen, Thamsanqa Mkhize, Menzi Chili (all released), Thamsanqa Teyise (returns to SuperSport) and Kwanda Mngonyama (returns to Mamelodi Sundowns).
