Sameehg Doutie is back with Ajax Cape Town after his two-year contract at Indian Super League club Atletico de Kolkata came to an end.
The 27-year-old winger came through the Ajax development ranks, playing for the first team between 2007 and 2011 before departing for Orlando Pirates and later Bidvest Wits.
The move to India followed, where he played 26 league games and scored five goals over two seasons.
Now the Cape-born attacker is back on his home turf and Ajax boss Ari Efstathiou says the signing of a contract could be imminent.
"I think we still need to strengthen a few more areas. Sameegh Doutie was training with us [on Tuesday]. We're looking to bring at least one or two more wingers, I think it's where we're lacking; out wide."
Ajax have seen numerous former players returning to the club for a second spell, including the likes of Toriq Losper, Dominic Isaacs, Franklin Cale and Nathan Paulse.
