NEDBANK sponsorship manager Tutu Skhosana has given some good advice to the 18 players who will be announced as finalists of the Ke Yona Team Search tonight – DON’T RELAX!
The Ke Yona Team Search has reached its peak and tonight the coaches – Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba, Khabo Zondo and Mike Mangena – will announce the final 18 cream of the crop that will play against 2016 Nedbank Cup champions SuperSport United on 4 September.
The 18 players will further be trimmed to 16 who will be drafted into the PSL with each club offering one player a contract in the name of development.
Skhosana said: “The final 18 must not relax because after the final, two more players will be dropped.”
This is the fourth edition of the Ke Yona Team Search. In the past three years it has unearthed some great players who have managed to get contracts in the PSL and went on to play in national teams.
In this year’s edition, Jeremiah Nkwana, who is known as a set piece specialist in Varsity football, and Cameron Chweu, who is playing for Central University of Technology, are among revelations to be watched.
Skhosana is confident this year will be even more successful than the past three editions: “Every year the Ke Yona team grows and the number of players who get professional contracts increase.
“We are confident that from the group we have this year some will end up playing abroad.”
