Fake news can do real damage!

accreditation

Propaganda against President Cyril Ramaphosa is intensifying on social media and other public platforms.

This after it emerged that his ANC presidential campaign was funded by white capitalists and prominent black people.

The president must stop being “Mr Nice Guy” if he is to stop the disinformation campaign against him by some people, or face the risk that lies repeated could be perceived as the truth.

Disinformation has become a dangerous tool of the digital era, especially with the use of bots that echo and amplify negative messaging about someone.

It’s entirely possible to do irreparable damage to someone’s reputation if they don’t fight back and have the support of people committed to the truth.

There is a concerted campaign to damage the president’s image.

The EFF and the public protector are also in the mix of things.

The public protector seems to be used as an instrument to amplify anti-Ramaphosa messaging, wittingly or unwittingly.

And my suspicion is the former. Former president Jacob Zuma was never going to go down quietly.

Zuma and his faction are capable of doing anything to stop the truth about themselves from emerging.
