Often when we talk about saving the planet from pollution we give credit to everything and everyone, except the people who recycle.
The bomagereza deserve to be given credit, not only for recycling but also for finding a way to make a living out of it. Instead of stealing or adding to the unemployment rate by sitting back and waiting for the government to create jobs, they have chosen to create their own work.
They can be seen in kasis from as early as 4am waiting for the dustbins to be taken out. The fact that they cut their sleep short and make a living out of rubbish, for me, is a true sign of heroism. Such people deserve to be given credit for their sterling work and contribution to saving the environment.
