EPHESIANS 5:25-27 says: “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to Himself as a glorious church, without stain or wrinkle or any such blemish, but holy and blameless.”
One of the qualities of love is its ability to sacrifice. To sacrifice means to give up something valued for the sake of other considerations. Lack of sacrifice has destroyed many valuable relationships.
Without sacrifice, people are selfish and selfishness is the root cause of greediness. Partners who cannot master the art of sacrifice will not be able to build sustainable relationships. The unwillingness to sacrifice is seen in the marriage contracts such as “out of community of property”, which simply means that partners are not willing to share their wealth.
This marriage contract says: let us stay together on condition that I keep all that is mine and you also keep all that is yours. This contract is inconsistent with the marriage covenant of Christ. “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her”.
Invest money and time to better the skills of your partner and do not judge her, but rather empower her.
