Even though Women’s Month ended last week, we must maintain efforts to advance and promote women.
Many of our women fought for the freedom we enjoy today.
They did this with no expectations because they were in the service of their country and to serve its people.
Our women are highly politically conscious, and we reject the notion that women are housewives.
It’s as though they are brainwashed like robots whose sole purpose is to cook for men and to fulfil tasks set by some male programmer.
Women must be central in determining the outcomes of the challenges we face in the various facets of our national development.
For this reason, I call on ANC branches to support a woman deputy president in the 54th national elective conference.
I call on ANC branches to vote for Cyril Ramaphosa as president and for his deputy to be a woman.
As we celebrate Heritage Month, we all owe this to the women who fought for our freedom.
Let us stay united in Heritage Month and mostly as we march towards the 54th national elective conference.
As Eastern Cape branches, let us be united for our 8th ANC provincial elective conference.
We must ensure that we field Oscar Mabuyane as the provincial chairman, Mlungisi Mvoko as his deputy, Lulama Ngcukayithobi as secretary, Helen August-Sauls as deputy secretary and Babalo Madikizela as our treasurer.
This will not isolate Pumulo Masaulle.
He should serve in our movement’s national executive committee.
His leadership experience is highly needed in the NEC.
We appreciate Masaulle’s role in the province.
He deserves to be in the NEC and I call on him to lead this call.
Let’s celebrate Heritage Month by advancing the unity of the ANC.
