EDEN HAZARD should snub Real Madrid and fulfil his ambitions with Chelsea.
Ex-Blues favourite Michael Essien hopes the Belgian superstar (27) turns down the European champions if they come calling in January or next summer.
Hazard admits he is dreaming about Real as he ponders whether to sign a new deal of £300 000 (R5,7 million) a week at Stamford Bridge.
Essien (35) won nine trophies in eight seasons with Chelsea, but went out on loan to the Bernabeu during the 2012-13 season under Jose Mourinho.
He said: “Eden is happy at Chelsea. And, as you can see, he is having a good season.
“We all hope he will continue until the end of the season and hopefully he can stay with us for a long time.
“There’s always speculation. When you play well, then they start linking you with the big names. If he is happy at Chelsea, then why not stay?”
Essien, a free agent since March, trains with the Chelsea reserves during the week as he searches for a new club.
Italian Maurizio Sarri has transformed the side since arriving from Napoli and replacing unhappy Antonio Conte in the summer.
The Blues, unbeaten in 11 matches, are level with Manchester City and Liverpool on 20 points at the top.
And Essien says Sarri has brought the “fun” back to the club, adding: “The vibe is good. Everyone is happy. Cobham is a happy place. No one is complaining. The players are buying into what he wants.
“They are all going in the right direction. You can see it on the pitch.”
