THE oldest person in the world has reportedly died at the age of 124.
Lola Francisca Susano, who is believed to be the last woman alive to be born in the 1800s, died on Monday, 22 November.
Susano’s death was confirmed by the Philippines state officials in her home province of Negros Occidental.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the government said Susano was considered the oldest person in the province and country.
“Her official declaration as the oldest person, in the world at 124 years old, is currently validated by the Guinness World Records,” the statement read.
According to New York Post, local health officials were yet to determine Susano’s cause of death.
There are reports that Covid-19 tests will be conducted to check if she had any symptoms of the virus before her death.
Susano was born in September 1897, and is reportedly the world’s last surviving person to be born in the 19th century.
