A woman died on Saturday morning in Mitchells Plain after her house caught fire.
The City of Cape Town's fire and rescue service received an emergency call at about 4:50 in the morning.
"When firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire in Weltevreden Road, they found a double-storey house ablaze and were informed that there was a person inside," said City fire and rescue services spokesperson Jermaine Carelse.
"The body of the woman, aged 46, was found at 5:18," he said.
A building inspector has been called in to check the structure of the house. Police are investigating the incident.
