OF all the cases which Public Protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane deals with, the most important ones don’t grab the headlines.
Mkhwebane feels cases that bring change are not getting the attention they deserve because the media only highlights high-profile cases.
Daily Sun sat down with her recently, and she poured her heart out about her challenges and how she wanted to turn things around.
Mkhwebane talked about how she had been trying to reach out to President Cyril Ramaphosa.
She said she wanted to give the president advice which she gets from ordinary people she speaks to.
The public protector is the second guest on our newly launched digital feature, Under the Umbrella, where we invite leaders of society to interact with readers.
“What these people tell me can only benefit the president,” she said.
“I’ve reached out to the president to meet him, and they said to me what do I want to meet him about.”
Mkhwebane told us her relationship with the president could benefit the country.
