TWO people were killed and three others injured on Tuesday morning, 28 September when an empty petrol truck and two light motor vehicles collided on the N1 northbound between William Nicol and Rivonia, Joburg.
ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said the accident happened at about 9am.
“A chemical truck was lying on its side on the side of the road, while two light motor vehicles were a short distance away, one well alight and another on its roof. It’s understood that paramedics had pulled a man and woman from the burning vehicle. They also assessed the patients and found that the man from the burning vehicle had already succumbed to his burn wounds, while the woman was in a critical condition,” Meiring said.

“Paramedics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care,” he said.
JMPD spokesman Wayne Minnaar said a second person from the accident had died.
“The driver of the VW Golf was burnt to death, and his passenger also succumbed to injuries in hospital,” he said.
