SMOKE was seen shooting up in the sky on the N2 freeway near Hluhluwe in KZN yesterday after a truck carrying a fuel tanker collided with two cars and then burst into flames.
This tragically resulted in the death of one driver, while others sustained injuries.
It took several hours for the flames to be put out, causing a traffic jam as smoke was also all over the area.
KZN Emergency Medical Services spokesman Robert McKenzie said they instructed their paramedics to keep 500 metres away from the fire, as it was too dangerous.
He said fire fighters worked hard to control the blaze sent large black clouds of smoke in the sky.
“The exact cause of the crash is not known,” he said.
Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed the accident and said a truck driver had died.
