AN angry and desperate family resorted to extreme measures to get what they wanted.

The angry family took a body of their loved one to the offices of Old Mutual in KwaZulu Natal, as they claimed the company didn’t process their policy claim speedily.

In the Video that has gone viral on social media, two women can be seen carrying a blue body bag with their family member inside.

The person taking the video can be heard saying: “Hawu ngiyokhohlwa ngifile.” Which means I’ll never forget what just happened.

Following that a lady in the background asks the family if they can provide someone to assist them in carrying the body to the car, but women refuse saying that they’ll do it themselves as the family.

It’s reported that this is the time their funeral policy claims was paid out immediately, after they brought the body to the branch.

Old Mutual was lambasted on social media, being accused of not showing sympathy towards the family during the difficult time.

The insurance company responded by saying: “Good evening, this has been most unsettling, and we are sympathetic towards the family during this difficult time.

“We can confirm that the claim was paid. Due to the sensitive nature of this matter, we will continue engaging directly with the family.”

It further said while they make every attempt to settle claims as speedily as possible, this specific claim had to undergo further assessments.

“Old Mutual strives to pay claims speedily - 99% of funeral claims are paid within 8 hours once all requirements are met,” Old mutual in a tweet.

People on social media didn’t take it lying down as they continued to critisise the company, even threatening to cancel their policies with the company.
