A 40-YEAR-OLD woman was beaten to death by her boyfriend of 11 months.

The murder came after he allegedly found her with another man in the bushes in Thononda Village outside Makhado, Limpopo, on Monday, 23 August.

The 42-year-old boyfriend reportedly recruited his cousin when he suspected that his girlfriend was having an affair.

They story goes that they found her with her 41-year-old nyatsi. Both the woman and the man were assaulted severely by the fuming boyfriend and his cousin.

Police spokesman Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said instead of taking his girlfriend to the clinic or hospital, the man took her to their home. She died during the night and the suspect called the police on Tuesday, 24 August, alerting them of her death.

“The police reacted to the call and on arrival found the body of a woman in their house. Preliminary investigations revealed the suspect attempted to hide the crime by cleaning the wounds and blood traces,” said Mojapelo.

The boyfriend and his cousin were arrested for murder and assault. The woman’s uncle (51) said they were still shocked by her death.

“She leaves behind three young children. This is so painful because we were helping her raise her children as she survived on odd jobs.

“They now no longer have a mother because of a man who was supposed to protect their mother,” he said.

The uncle said he had a chance to speak to the suspect but he lied to him, saying the woman called him saying she was drinking at a tavern.

“He said she suddenly started vomiting, which caused her death.

“But the true story has come out that he assaulted her after he found her with another man. She died a brutal death. We want the suspect to rot in jail,” said the uncle.

The police confirmed the man is still alive after he managed to escape during the attack. The man was discharged from the clinic after receiving medical treatment.
