Two bogus doctors facing 4 292 charges appeared in the Wolmaransstad Magistrate's Court on Friday.
According to police, Ester Gogo Motaung, 45 and Ditaba Daniel Kati, 27, practised medicine while not being qualified or registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
"They appeared in court following their arrest by the Hawks' Serious Commercial Crime Investigation at their consulting rooms in Wolmaransstad. They have allegedly been operating for over three years with branches in Ventersdorp and Bloemhof whilst charging a consultation fee of R350," said Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso.
The court granted them each R2 000 bail following their arrest.
Their combined 4 292 charges stemmed from the alleged contravention of Section 12 of the Health Professions Act of 1974. The case was postponed to 30 August for further investigation.
