accreditation

A case of business burglary has been registered for further investigation following a break-in at the Hawks Serious Organised Crime offices in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal.

Hawks spokeswoman, Brigadier Nomthandazo Mbambo, said the theft took place between Friday 5 November, afternoon and Monday morning.

She said the suspects entered the building by forcing open the windows.

"One of the safes in the office, which were used to store exhibits, was tampered with.

"The suspects stole 541kg cocaine drugs to the street value of R200 000 000 and ransacked the office where safes were kept," she said.

Mbabo said the National Head of the DPCI, Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya, has appointed the Deputy National Head, Lt Gen Tebello Constance Mosikili, to conduct an Inquiry into the circumstances of the theft whilst the Detective and Forensic Service has been requested to investigate the matter.

"No suspects have been arrested in the matter," she said.
