TWO wanted suspects have been nabbed for allegedly killing a Soweto tavern owner.
According to SAPS spokesman Captain Mavela Masondo, the suspects were arrested yesterday morning in Kempton Park and Roodepoort.
He said the suspects, aged 39 and 41, allegedly killed a tavern owner from Doornkop.
“It was reported that on Wednesday, October 7, two men who were driving a white Kia stopped at a tavern in Doornkop and asked to see the owner.
“As the 60-year-old man was coming out, he was shot several times by the two suspects before they drove off,” said Masondo.

Masondo said the victim was certified dead at the scene.
He said information received led to the arrest after various law enforcement teams went out to search for the suspects.
“During the arrests, the suspects were found in possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition of different high calibre firearms, a police reflector jacket, blue lights, handcuffs, a police waist belt, a docket cover and a Kia vehicle suspected to be used during the commission of the murder,” said Masondo.
He said the provincial commissioner of the police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, commended the team that worked together to arrest the duo as Gauteng police continue to intensify efforts to bring down the high volumes of contact crimes such as murder.
Masondo said the suspects are expected to appear at Roodepoort Magistrates Court tomorrow.
