Two suspects appeared in the Nquthu Magistrates Court on Monday, 7 June, after they were caught with a stolen vehicle and livestock.
According to police spokeswoman Colonel Thembeka Mbele, cops received information on Sunday morning, 6 June, about a stolen vehicle that was being driven around the Mondlo area in KZN.
Mbele said police followed up on the information and they proceeded to the Mathayeleni area in Mondlo C Section, where a stolen vehicle was found.
“The preliminary investigation that was conducted by the police at the scene revealed the vehicle was stolen in Piet Retief in Mpumalanga. The vehicle was stolen with groceries on 5 June 2021 while parked in Piet Retief,” she said.

Mbele said two suspects were questioned about the grocery that was taken along with the vehicle.
“They pointed to a room and some of the groceries were found in one of the suspect’s houses,” she said.
Mbele said upon inspecting the vehicle, the cops saw goat hair and the driver of the stolen vehicle was questioned.
“The investigation revealed that two goats were stolen in the Mondlo area and the same vehicle was used to transport the stolen goats. One goat was recovered by police and the other goat was sold and slaughtered during a funeral that was conducted in the area,” Mbele said.
She said the suspects were also charged for stock theft. They were kept in jail.
