COMMUNITY members were relieved when three suspects connected to the rape of a gogo and her granddaughter were identified and arrested.
Police in Dobsonville, Soweto, yesterday announced they had bust the men suspected of terrorising women in the area.

The suspects allegedly had a list of houses without men and were targeting them.
Community leader Sinethemba Lahliwe told Daily Sun: “If we had not followed up as the community, the police would not have arrested the suspects.”
She said incidents like the rape of the 61-year-old gogo and her 21-year-old granddaughter would not have happened if patrollers weren’t taken off the streets as part of lockdown regulations.

According to Gauteng police spokeswoman Brigadier Mathapelo Peters, investigations led the team to Mpumalanga where they arrested one suspect on Wednesday.
“The second suspect in the case was shot and killed during a house robbery this past weekend in Roodepoort. Further investigations have since linked a third suspect who was one of two men allegedly assaulted by community members at the weekend. He was arrested and is in police custody,” said Peters.
On Tuesday, some parts of Dobsonville came to a complete standstill after women in the area took to the streets, demanding arrests. The suspects aged 43 and 50 will appear in court soon.
