AN angry community of Mandiwana village outside Thohoyandou reportedly burnt a 35-year-old man suspected of rape alive.
The incident allegedly occurred on Wednesday morning.
Police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the 35-year-old suspect entered the house and allegedly raped a 24-year-old woman.
Ngoepe said the victim later on, saw the alleged rapist in the same area and immediately informed the community.
The angry crowd then traced the suspect, cornered and attacked him with various objects, and thereafter set him alight.
He said when they arrived on the scene a burnt body was discovered.
“The suspects involved in this brutal attack are still unknown and no arrests have been made,” said Ngoepe.
The Limpopo Provincial Commissioner General Nneke Ledwaba established a special task team to track down the suspects involved.
"The police will continue to deal harshly with members of the community who continue to participate in these irresponsible acts," said Ledwaba"
