PUPIL COLLAPSES, DIES IN CLASSROOM!

A GRADE 7 pupil from Protea South Primary School in Soweto collapsed and died in the classroom on Wednesday, 17 February.

An official report to the Department of Education indicated that the incident took place on Wednesday morning before lunch break.

It’s alleged that Sibongiseni Khoza felt dizzy and collapsed in the classroom shortly afterwards.

His teacher made multiple attempts to help him regain consciousness, while his mother was contacted and transported to the school.

Paramedics were also called to the scene for assistance.

But unfortunately, Sibongiseni was confirmed dead at midday.

The Gauteng Department of Education has appointed an independent investigative body to determine the circumstances surrounding the mysterious death of Sibongiseni.

The department said that their Psychosocial Unit Team has been sent to further help the school deal with trauma.

MEC for Gauteng Education Panyaza Lesufi has conveyed his deepest condolences to Sibongiseni’s family, and hopes the community of Protea South Primary School manages to conquer the distress of this saddening incident.

“We are deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Sibongiseni Khoza right at the beginning of the academic year. It is a truly depressing incident and we sincerely share our most genuine sympathy with the pupil’s family and his school community,” said Lesufi.
