GOING once, going twice and sold to the highest bidder!
Tomorrow assets belonging African Global Operations, known as Bosasa, will go under the hammer in what has been dubbed the “Auction of the decade”.
There are so many assets so the auction will take place over three days. First to go under the hammer will be the vehicles.
Bidders will be lining up for 140 passenger and commercial vehicles.
These will include a blue 2016 BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne, a 2011 Audi S5, 2008 Audi A4, a 2013 Mercedes-Benz E200, 2016 Mercedes-Benz C250, assorted bakkies, minibuses and a selection of Toyota makes such as Hilux, Fortuner, Avanza, Corolla and Quantum.
The commercial vehicles include trucks, tractors, telehandlers, backhoe loaders, assorted trailers, quad bikes and golf carts.
Park Village Auctions spokesman Clive Lazarus said: “One Wednesday it will be the vehicles and furniture, on Thursday it will be property and furniture, and on Friday it will be the camera and security equipment as well as more furniture.”
Clive said after they opened for inspection, they had about 150 bidders registered.
He said they expected between 250 to 300 bidders on the first day of the auction. Yesterday potential bidders were already at the site viewing the area and vehicles.
Pieter Geldehuys of Bidder’s Choice said: “The highlights will be the three fixed properties, comprising of the Bosasa headquarters and campus, the Lindela Repatriation Centre, and the entire contents of a functional copper plant.”
The headquarters, called the Smart Global Campus, feature a large office park, offices, a restaurant as well as a canteen, warehouse and other buildings.
The copper plant is about 9,28 hectares, with movable and immovable equipment. The plant boasts a production capacity of 32 000 tons per annum.
The assets will be auctioned off to settle the debt the company owes to creditors. The company, accused of corruption, is commercially insolvent and is in the hands of liquidators.
