SPEAKERS at Siyabonga Sokhela’s funeral on Saturday said the real motive for his killing would come out one day.

The 29-year-old cop from KwaMashu J section, north of Durban, was shot and killed at his rented house in KwaDabeka on Saturday last week.

His sister Ayanda (33) said: “As his big sister I loved, supported and protected him.

“Anyone who hurt him had to deal with me. One day in high school, he sat me down and asked me to stop fighting his battles, saying he was old enough.”

“It’s painful that he’s dead, but the truth will come out and the killer is somewhere out there,” said Nqe.

Ayanda described Siyabonga as a loving person who always had a smile on his face and helped others.

She told the mourners: “He respected his job and didn’t hurt anyone. He liked drinking beer and relaxing with his friend. It will be hard for us to move on, but the person behind his death will pay for this.”

Nqe Maphumulo (29) said it was hard for him to accept that his friend Siyabonga was really dead.

“It’s painful that he’s dead, but the truth will come out and the killer is somewhere out there,” said Nqe.

Siyabonga’s Metro cop girlfriend was arrested following his death and released due to lack of evidence.

He was a constable at Ntuzuma cop shop.
