A MUM is worried about her son who is afraid to go back to school.
This after he was allegedly assaulted by the teacher over his school work.
Speaking to Daily Sun from his home in Extension 1 in Khuma near Klerksdorp, North West, the 12-year-old pupil said the teacher slapped him five times.
“My teacher found my class work incomplete. He shouted at me while slapping me on the face.
“It was painful when he slapped me on the ear. My classmates saw everything,” said the pupil.
After school, the teacher allegedly stopped the pupil from going home.
“We were alone in the classroom and he told me to finish my school work.”
The boy’s mum said she received a call from the boy’s brother that he got home after 5pm.
“He also told me my son was assaulted by a teacher. My son has since been bullied by some of the neighbourhood children and schoolmates,” said the mum.
She said it worried her that her son collapsed and fainted every time he was assaulted.
In addition, Daily Sun was shown a letter written by the boy, where he said he would use his mother’s pills to kill himself.
The mum said the principal and some school governing body members apologised to her, but the school allegedly didn’t take any disciplinary action against the teacher.
“Let them transfer my son to another school as they kept the teacher at the school. I’ve also opened a case of assault against the teacher,” she said.
Captain Sam Tselanyane confirmed a case of assault was opened.
Meanwhile, provincial education spokesman Elias Malindi said they were not aware of the incident, but would investigate.
